Unfortunately we do not have any home energy efficiency projects at the moment, but we are interested in all aspects of sustainable building and living, whether that's improved insulation or high efficiency household products - if you can help please contact us.

Norfolk green buildings open to public
Eco structures in Norfolk will be opening their doors next month in the Campaign to Protect Rural England's (CPRRE) Green Buildings in Norfolk Open Days event. Bookings are now available for tours of a variety of eco-buildings, most of which are not normally open to the public. The event will feature 12 projects that collectively incorporate a wide range of technologies and energy-saving measures, and will take place from Thursday, September 23 until Sunday, September 26.

Which highlights Energy Saving Misconceptions
Many people are clueless about what they can do to save significant amounts of energy, and the most eco-active individuals are often the most confused, according to a new study. Which? energy researcher Hazel Cottrell says: ‘While it’s good to adopt practices such as turning off lights and appliances while not in use, these won’t be having as powerful of an effect on your energy use as other actions you could take.’

Retrofit Project for Britain's 26million homes
The UK Government sees retrofitting existing homes as a key tool to achieving its 80% CO2 emissions reduction goal for 2050, with housing the single biggest contributor to the nation’s CO2 emissions. A £3 million project is now underway to design a supply chain solution to improve the energy efficiency of the vast majority of homes which will still be in use by 2050.

Building integrated photovoltaics - are they gaining ground?
This article from American website, Renewable Energy World looks at the developments of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and the potential to make the buildings construction generate power. With many European countries wanting new build houses to be either energy neutral or energy positive by 2020 this is obviously an area to watch.

Feed In Tarrifs - Great for renewables but check the figures
The UK’s Feed In Tariffs (FITs) for small scale generation of renewable power were introduced by the last government and came into force on April 1st 2010. Basically, anyone who installs renewable technology up to 5MW) will be paid a set amount for the power they generate, regardless of whether they use it for their own use or not. Be warned though, the figures can be misleading.
